Whatley’s Birthday Hat marks the beginning of my Amoeba Style. Created to wear to my dear friend’s birthday dance party, this hat has turned into one of my favorite pieces. It collapses for travel, stands up to rain and sets the mood for a Friday night dinner and, of course, any birthday celebration. It has traveled up and down the East Coast, out to California, to Spain and has visited France on 5 different occasions! Adorned with T-shirt roses and my late mother’s cloisonné butterfly, this hat holds a special place in my heart. Though not for sale, it has been and can be the inspiration for future creations.
