This headpiece uses an old-world technique of French Flowermaking, Watermelon silk fabric was cut and, in this case, hand-colored to create additional depth. The petals were starched and molded with heated brass shaping tools. The stamen are felted wool and millinery wire. The petals were assembled individually and mounted on a wire frame and secured with a headband.
