While studying millinery in the South of France, we experienced a dramatic weather phenomenon that only occurs in this part of the world…a mistral. The cold, dry, fierce wind blew down from the north, through our village, toward the Mediterranean Sea. This free-form hat was influenced by that incredible wind. Two layers of watermelon and pale lemon-lime sinamay straw appear to be windswept into this dramatic sculptural turban.
